The students of the School of Architecture, University of Auckland, New Zealand, were put to the test within the the last few weeks. I collected data from students of Architecture, planning, and dance students and observed to see any clear traits within each group of students.
Students were asked to identify:
***
Britomart
Western Springs
Sylvia Park
One Tree Hil
**
***

It appears that architecture and planning studentsappear rather decisive with at least the orientation of each location- particular more quick and accurate to locate Britomart, being an area of familiarity.
The results given from dance students were also decisive with direction yet, but the theory with Britomart and its familiarity does not seem to comply here.
Perhaps it is also the students ability to take advantage of as many physical landmarks as possible in which may give a guideline of where specific destinations are located. For example, Britomart is located near the wharfs by the coast of the Auckland Isthmus, which is visibly seen in the map even without any form of legend or labelling. While on the otherhand, One Tree Hill results in a more diverse contribution of date due to it being inland, and there are little points of relativity for the students to relate to.
Students were also asked to estimate the height of one of the most well-known buildings in Auckland, New Zealand - the Sky Tower.
For the students who wish to know how high it is:
328m
Now: Feel free to take part in my interactive map. Lets see how well you know Auckland!
